From an early age I discovered horses and fell in love instantly!
I have spent my life working with horses, moving around the country for stable and riding work. Mainly riding centres and private yards. Each job slightly different giving me more knowledge and experience every time. A high standard has evolved in my working and I am aware of the importance of a professional manner around clients. I have worked sole-charge on many occasions and enjoy the responsibility it brings.
I am working through my qualifications and have passed the British Horse Society Stage One & Two, Riding and Road Safety and First Aid. I have also achieved my BHS Preliminary Teaching Test.
I find the riding and training of horses much more satisfying than coming first in a competition. Though, I have competed at unaffiliated showjumping, dressage and eventing.
After finding a love for teaching I decided to do it freelance. I have also covered at the local riding centres, including Gordano Valley Riding Centre and Urchinwood Manor Riding and Event Centre. I found I have a huge enthusiasm for getting riders of all ages to achieve and enjoy giving confidence in their flatwork, aswell as jumping. My teaching style allows riders to progress their riding skill whether it be for pleasure or for competition riding. Goals are set, agreed together so they are then more achievable. I have found that its the attention to detail that gives me my love for teaching. The process of going back to the basics and finding out what works for each individual rider and horse.
I have set up and run a successful “Kids Club” at Urchinwood Manor Riding and Event Centre. Teaching children horse care and riding is a really satisfying job, setting up their knowledge for the future.
